Today violence is all around us, especially in video games. Even with a rating of "teen" or "mature," parents allow their children to play video games that are extremely violent and far surpass their maturity level. The games portray as acceptable or fun lifestyles of violence.
Nine of CNN’s "The 10 best video games of 2012" included guns or killing. Games are more realistic and bloodier than ever; they dull children’s’ sensitivity to violence.

The shooters at Columbine High School, the movie theater in Aurora, Colo., and Sandy Hook Elementary School all frequently played violent gun video games, one being "Call of Duty."
Video games have an effect on children’s thoughts and actions. As future members of society, they should not be exposed to violence at such an early age.
Parents should be informed about and frequently check up on the games their children are playing. In a life surrounded by violence, children are influenced by these games and come to believe that violence is normal or acceptable.
