The Oregon Legislature is considering a bill to limit left lanes on freeways and some highways to passing only. The state of Washington already has such a law.

Since moving to Utah from the Northwest eight years ago, I have never seen such bad behavior from drivers. One example is Utahns' love affair with the left lane. I would like to see something in Utah like what Oregon is considering and Washington already has.

Other examples of Utah's bad driving behaviors: the inability to merge correctly; speeding; moving into others' lanes without signaling (or belatedly signaling when already in the lane); and most of all, doing the NASCAR aerodynamic drafting move by following so close to my rear end you could give me an exam — all the while going 60-75 mph.

Something must change!
