The Capitol Watch section of Friday’s Tribune ran a photograph of a Hogle Zoo educator with a Madagascar Ground Boa in the state Capitol. The 7-foot snake was removed from the gallery in the Utah House of Representatives "after Speaker of the House Becky Lockhart, R-Povo, said some visitors felt threatened" ("Snake on the Hill," Tribune, March 1).
First, it’s interesting that people in the Legislature would be uncomfortable around a snake.

Second, it’s also interesting that none of those people feel threatened by untrained, unqualified people carrying loaded firearms around the Legislature.
Third, we should feel blessed that no threatened individual shot the snake, the docent and a couple of children.
