Whether the Hale Centre Theatre builds its new theater in Sandy or West Valley City, I hope its sentimental powers-that-be pay more attention to their clients than to architectural nostalgia ("Hale Centre Theatre asks Utah Legislature for $2 million to help it expand" (Tribune, Feb. 20).
I recently took my 80-somethings mother and aunt to the theater and was astounded that its majority grey-haired clientele had to climb up and down those sweeping staircases in the lobby because of the long wait for its one pitiful elevator. Most made that painful choice.

Hale’s customers are old with bad knees, so instead of going for the grand and majestic look, do something that will truly help them: Invest in an escalator!
