In "Prison move for profit" (Forum, Feb. 10), Joe Done opposes moving the prison because it is an "outright transfer of hard-earned tax money from real workers into the deep pockets of real estate developers."
The prison is located on prime land; it is not out in the middle of nothing, as it once was. Moving the prison and allowing those evil developers to develop the land would create housing, business and recreation opportunities for the entire area.
Of course, this would mean millions of dollars in property taxes and jobs for hundreds, if not thousands, of people. As it is now, those hard-earned tax dollars from the "real workers" Done is so concerned about go to pay for that prison.
