Last fall, Sandy City Parks and Recreation hired a trapper to place traps around Creekside Park to kill beavers. Last month a pet dog was killed as well ("Beaver trap kills dog at Sandy park," Tribune, Dec. 14).

It is horrific that these archaic and inhumane traps are used for beavers or any living creature. Now I'm concerned about the safety of my dogs, my grandkids, myself and everyone else at other parks, around golf courses, etc. I've not taken them out for walks since this gruesome incident.

How can we know if these weapons have been placed somewhere else? At this moment, are there other places in the state where traps are placed?
