Suffer the children
At this time of year, many profess the belief in God and his incarnate birth for our salvation. The holding of a Bible in one hand and an assault weapon with a 50-round magazine in the other seems to be blasphemy, pure and simple.
When the adult Jesus said, "Suffer the little ones to come unto me," he was pleading against innocents being massacred.
The Prince of Peace deplored violence against his creation in all its forms.
Those sanctimoniously religious politicians of any party, without the courage to stand up to Wayne LaPierre and his fundamentalist, pry-the-gun-from-my-cold-dead-hands foolishness, should at least acknowledge that they may well have an unwavering belief in the conservative right's interpretation of the Second Amendment, but they haven't a clue about the message of the birth we reverently celebrate on Dec. 25.
