I am sickened by the total lack of any compromise by our elected officials. They have known about this "fiscal cliff" since they created it in 2011, yet we have two parties who refuse to do the right thing!
Our representatives are more concerned about re-election than the country. If they would change the way they do their daily business, coming to a budget agreement would not be so difficult.
They need to implement the great ideas from http://www.nolabels.org. It proposes 12 procedural solutions to break the gridlock, promote constructive discussion and reduce polarization in Congress. The first proposal is "No budget, no pay: If Congress can't pass a budget and all annual spending bills on time, members of Congress should not get paid."
Politicians will never agree on everything, but like a child, they need to be taught to compromise.
