This past Sunday, Latter-day Saint women wore pants to church ("Mormon women wear pants to church despite objections," Tribune, Dec. 17). Some see this as an act of progress within the church; others see it as blasphemous disgrace to a Sunday tradition.
How pathetic is it that a main controversy that garners the attention of media outlets for an entire week, including social media, is about women wearing pants to church?
I don't care either way. Not being LDS, this entire topic not only bores me, but confuses me.
While it is seemingly unacceptable to some that women wear dress slacks to church, it is deemed perfectly acceptable to wear jeans to Capitol Theatre to see "The Nutcracker" or to the Pioneer Theatre Company.
Across the region, casual airy summer shoes like Crocs and Tevas with are worn in midwinter (with socks), and denim skirts are considered "dressy."
Maybe women wearing dress slacks to church isn't our state's biggest clothing issue.
