Re "Bob Murray lays off 102 Utah miners in response to Obama win" (Tribune, Nov. 10):

Pop quiz, folks:

Question: What business goes out and fires employees based on the results of an election and not based on the market?

Answer: A business where the employer is so wealthy that the market does not apply to him anymore.

When the "1 percent" can make business decisions to lay you off just to spite the results of an election — knowing their action will not affect their lifestyle or standard of living one bit — it means that it is time to start having the discussion about what to do with our 1 percent problem.
