In "Iron County citizens investigating police, government" (Tribune, Nov. 4), reporter Nate Carlisle incorrectly stated that there are only two citizen bodies in Utah "that investigates complaints against police." West Valley City has a Professional Standards Review Board that was formed in late 1992 to review the actions of the officers in its police department.

We do much more than just review complaints. We spend many hours each month reviewing every complaint initiated both internally and externally, every use of force and all pursuits. We see everything and review all of the paper work that originates from each case.

This board is a dedicated group of citizens. We have the full support of the chief of police, city manager and the City Council. This board has been very successful for 20 years.
