The editorial "Millcreek city: Local control vs. higher cost" (Our View, Oct. 19) stated that the only question before Millcreek voters on whether to incorporate as city is: "Are you happy with the municipal services you are getting from the county today?"
The editorial mistakenly focuses only on the present. The correct questions for Millcreek city voters are about the future.
The proposed Millcreek city is diverse and complex, with ever-changing demographic, social, cultural, economic, infrastructure and service needs and demands. .
Is the existing county form, with no elected official being a Millcreek resident, best? Alternatively, would a local government where elected officials are all residents better meet the diverse and changing needs of Millcreek? These are the questions voters should consider.
It's about the future, not the present.
