At the opening of the debate between the major party's vice presidential candidates concerning the request for more security at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, Vice President Joe Biden said: "We weren't told they wanted more security there. We did not know they wanted more security again."

The look on Rep. Paul Ryan's face said it all — a reaction shared by many equally perplexed viewers: What, are you kidding? Just the day before, a congressional hearing made clear that there were many pleas to fix security concerns, acknowledged by the State Department.

You'd expect that on issues this important that the White House and the State Department would be talking to each other. Apparently not.

Either this administration isn't being square with the American people or it is flat-out inept. Take your pick.
