Re "Ski resort access answers remain elusive" (Tribune, Sept. 22): SkiLink, the proposed gondola from Park City to Big Cottonwood Canyon, will relieve congestion, not create it.
A lot of us have seen the long line of red snake eyes from car taillights wending home after a long day of skiing. What if skiers from Park City left their cars there and took a gondola?
SkiLink is not the silver bullet that will solve all transportation problems in our canyons, but if it can help move people between the ski resorts without having them use their cars, that is a net positive. SkiLink truly offers a way to attract more skiers and grow our economy while actually reducing traffic congestion.
Also, SkiLink will not hurt the watershed. There are 14 ski lifts in Big Cottonwood Canyon, and they have not hurt the watershed. Why would SkiLink be any different?
People need to be more concerned with the impact of the new road bridge being constructed in Big Cottonwood Canyon and the new cable line being dug up along the roadside. These two projects create a greater watershed risk than SkiLink would.
