I write to defend Gov. Mitt Romney and his now famous comments about people "who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them."

During Hurricane Katrina, there was much destruction in Louisiana. One of my relatives hauled mobile homes to the people who had lost everything. He talked with them and listened to their complaints.

They were not prepared for problems; they didn't understand what they could have and should have done. They were waiting for the government to do something for them, and they complained about what had been done for them. They depended on the government to help them and to give them money.

People should learn more about the facts that Romney knows. Some of the black and white people have an take-care-of-me attitude.
