Every time I attend my Latter-day Saint ward someone opines how the spotlight is currently on our church. The spotlight is not so much on us as on Gov. Mitt Romney, and I dislike how he represents us.
Jesus said: "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Romney's platform takes from the least to preserve tax breaks for the most well-off.
We Mormons are told to be Christlike. Is it Christlike to distort the truth about your opponent to make yourself look good, or to insinuate that because you are a white man from an upper-class neighborhood your citizenship credentials are better that those of a black man with a foreign sounding name, or to blame the president for not fixing fast enough the problems he inherited when he had no cooperation from the party you represent?
Now Romney says that 47 percent of Americans expect the government to provide for us. My husband and I have worked hard all of our lives and have never taken public assistance. We pay our fair share of taxes and expect Romney to do the same.
