After spending the past 38 years at "Dear Old Davis High School," I express gratitude to former students, many now dear friends, for making it such a wonderful and successful experience.
As I graduate (retire) to write a new chapter in my book of life, I have no regrets. I have loved teaching essential life skills in classes in home economics (family and consumer science), foods, adult roles, financial literacy, clothing and interior design. Child development and early childhood education are my passion.
With six different classes per semester of 25-30 students, the names and faces add up quickly. I wish I could remember individual names of the 11,000 students I have been privileged to know. My husband, also a retired teacher, commented that if we gathered all our students together we'd have a fair-sized city.
Teaching two generations of students and knowing little children in our child care center and preschool has been exciting. I have had the best of worlds, surrounded by the enthusiasm and joy of little children and the intellect, interest and challenges of teens.
I appreciate learning from colleagues, students and parents. Thanks for an enjoyable and memorable journey.
