Last week in Commerce, Mich., Mitt Romney told a crowd that he and his wife were happy to be near their childhood home.

"They know that this is the place that we were born and raised," he said, and joked that "no one's ever asked to see my birth certificate," raising a mini-controversy about the issue of President Barack Obama's citizenship ("Romney: 'No one's ever asked to see my birth certificate,'" Tribune, Aug. 24).

I am not interested in seeing Romney's birth certificate.

However, I am asking to view his tax returns.
