Pat Bagley, liberal
This is an archived article that was published on sltrib.com in 2012, and information in the article may be outdated. It is provided only for personal research purposes and may not be reprinted.

Political cartoonist Pat Bagley recently wrote a fine column about "American Exceptionalism" ("Mormons exceptional in belief in American exceptionalism," Tribune, June 24). Bagley should now write about something he really knows and believes in — liberal exceptionalism.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., recently beclowned himself by spreading absurd and unsubstantiated rumors about Mitt Romney's taxes, yet Bagley sees nothing worth lampooning.

The harpy House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., disgraces herself with every utterance, yet I can't recall she ever merited a cartoon from Bagley.

On rare occasions Bagley will portray President Barack Obama as slightly less than a hero, but that's about it.

Admittedly, our repellent local conservative legislators make themselves easy targets for ridicule, but that is no excuse to be lazy and ignore liberal idiocy. Unless, of course, you are a strong believer in liberal exceptionalism.
