An online F
First Published Feb 16 2012 01:01 am • Last Updated Feb 16 2012 01:01 am

For the past few years, I have enjoyed following the Utah Legislature on its website. It was easy to use and provided lots of current information.

You were able to watch either body while in session, see the boards showing which bills were in line to be debated and voted on, and you could easily get the text and other information for the bill. You always knew which bill was on the floor.

For some inexplicable reason, our legislators abandoned a great system, one that had national recognition, for a high-priced piece of junk. They have made it impossible to easily follow the bills being debated.

I have tried, multiple times, to follow the debates on the floor from my computer, without much success. Maybe that was their intent.

If I were grading the Legislature’s new online system, I would give it a solid F. You can’t go lower.
