Hatch’s agenda
First Published Feb 11 2012 01:01 am • Last Updated Feb 11 2012 01:01 am

I have seen Sen. Orrin Hatch’s TV ads where he talks about stopping the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which he calls Obamacare. Hatch should spend a lot more time on efforts to help America get back to work. Here are some recommendations:

• Sponsor a bill to end tax deductions for companies that outsource jobs.

• Support tax incentives for companies that bring jobs back to America.

• Impose tariffs on goods manufactured abroad by companies that outsourced their manufacturing.

• Develop a real bill to retrain people who have lost their jobs. These people are not responsible for the recession. They also do not sit around simply drawing unemployment insurance; they’re seeking meaningful work.

If the good senator would spend more time on real issues that could help America get back to work, he would not need to spend so much time trying to get re-elected.
