I am confused by Rep. Jason Chaffetz spending a lot of time helping Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign ("Chaffetz earns ire of Gingrich camp," Tribune, Jan. 31). The Utah tea party movement, including Chaffetz, booted out Sen. Bob Bennett for not being conservative enough, and it has stated that its goal is to replace both Sen. Orrin Hatch and Rep. Rob Bishop with "more conservative" tea party candidates.
Since Jon Huntsman left the Republican presidential primary trail, of the remaining candidates in the race, Romney is the most liberal candidate, both socially and economically.

Has Chaffetz become more liberal, or is this just about supporting a Mormon candidate? Why isn’t he in Washington, D.C., doing was he was elected to do?
