Re "Obama takes aim at Lee in nominee fight (Tribune, Jan. 29):

Shame on Sen. Mike Lee for blocking the Senate from voting on all of President Barack Obama’s nominees. Lee is a part of the federal government; it’s his job to make it work, not to run it into the ditch.

Obama was elected president, and he and every president deserves to have nominees properly considered and voted on. What kind of system gives one single senator the ability to stop the other 99 from even voting on a nominee? This was not intended by the inspired Founding Fathers Lee says he so reveres. The founders said a majority of the senators could kill a nominee — not one senator. Look who’s rending the Constitution now!

Lee whines about Obama usurping more power than the Constitution gives the president. Lee should look in the mirror when he spouts those words about original intent. He’s the true usurper in chief.

Senate rules should require that every presidential nominee for federal judge or executive position receive a vote 90 days after nomination.

It’s too bad we have to wait four years to block a vote on Lee.
