In the Republican rebuttal to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels stated: "Contrary to the president’s constant disparagement of people in business, it’s one of the noblest of human pursuits. The late Steve Jobs — what a fitting name he had — created more of them than all those stimulus dollars the president borrowed and blew."
What a bunch of poop! Apple currently employs only 43,000 U.S. workers, plus 20,000 overseas workers and 700,000 people who work for overseas Apple contractors. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated that the number of American jobs created by the $800 billion-plus stimulus was between 1.4 million and 3.3 million!

How can we have a rational discussion and rational decision making when Republicans (and Democrats) keep stating over and over again "facts" that just aren’t true? Obama’s stimulus did create jobs and keep the recession from being worse. That’s an undisputable fact. Now, let’s discuss what it means and what we should do, instead of willfully saying things that just aren’t true.
As the late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan famously stated (even if he didn’t originally coin it): Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts.
