MacKay is special

Many years ago I became a United States citizen. After the swearing-in ceremony, we all recited the Pledge of Allegiance, ending by saying "with liberty and justice for all."

After all these years, I have doubted the sincerity of those concluding words in the pledge, and during the past few years we Americans have made a joke of it.

One current example is the way our judiciary has treated the Brigham City drug dealer Dr. Dewey MacKay. Were he a Joe Blow in this state, he already would be in prison and doing time for years to come.

But not being a Joe Blow, MacKay gets treated differently, showing that American justice is unequal for America’s citizens.
