As a Democrat, I am amazed at the loyalty Utahns show Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman.

In 2008, Romney raised more money from Utah than any other single state except California — $5.5 million. This year he will most likely do the same. Huntsman will also raise millions from Utah.

Here are two candidates who seem to see campaign money as the only value Utah offers their presidential bids. Otherwise, both Huntsman and Romney could not get out of Utah fast enough to seek their political ambitions. The least they can do is spend in Utah some of the millions they take from Utah. This could do a lot to help local small-business owners.

What would be the harm in having some of their campaign literature printed here? Or hire local production crews to shoot their political advertising? That would show appreciation and respect for all the money Utah supporters shell out.

This is a good question the media should ask Huntsman and Romney: Do you plan to spend any of the millions you take from Utah in Utah?
