Concerning the so-called "guest" worker program a "guest" is an invited person who is welcomed by the host and who the host expects will also go home before, or at least when, the host and his wife are standing at the door in their pajamas.
The reason "we" want a guest worker program is to skirt the immigration law, plain and simple. "We" is the group of businessmen who exploit illegals as "guest workers" so they can pocket a bigger slice of the pie than other businesses that choose to obey the laws of the land.
"We" invite the illegals in so a small number of us who get richer due to low-cost labor can give a bigger check every Sunday as a 10th of our income.
Jesus said, "You cannot serve God and mammon," and maybe our religious leaders should look it up. There is nothing holy about breaking the law for financial gain.
We should welcome legal immigrants and guests as angels, but, no, we should not wink at lawlessness.
