Re "Gary Herbert: The Tribune's choice for governor" (Our View, Oct. 3):

I opened The Tribune editorial page this morning and choked on my Cheerios! Is nothing sacred anymore? After reading The Trib for more than 30 years, I have never been so disgusted with the paper.

Haven't you noticed the For Sale sign on the current governor's office? Or is there one that looks just like it also on The Tribune's front door? Don't you read in your own newspaper the articles about the perfidy residing in the governor's mansion?

Your reasoning that Herbert will get along with the Legislature better than Democratic gubernatorial candidate Peter Corroon is faulty to the extreme. By that reasoning there should never be a Democrat in the governor's chair until and unless that unholy alliance, another name for the GOP leadership (so called), is overthrown and integrity is once again restored to Capital Hill.

Whoever wrote the endorsement ought to take remedial classes in ethics before he or she is run out of town on a rail, as this sort of drivel only discredits the fine traditions of the once sane and open-minded Salt Lake Tribune.
