It's Navy Week in Salt Lake City. The citizens of Salt Lake City, like all Americans, have made a significant investment in a Navy that is fast, flexible, global and powerful. We're here this week to thank you for your support.

This city has some very real connections with the Navy, including the local men and women stationed around the world, the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps at West High School, the Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Utah and local administrative offices.

We also have a history of kinship with two seafaring vessels, a heavy war cruiser and a submarine, which proudly bore the Salt Lake City name in World War II and the Cold War, respectively.

I thank the citizens of Salt Lake City for hosting us this week. When you see us around the city, or watch our Navy Band performances and Leap Frog Parachute team demonstrations at the Utah State Fair, please don't be shy. We hope you'll join us and meet some of your amazing sailors, hear their stories, and learn more about your United States Navy.

Vice Admiral Kevin M. McCoy Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command
