A motorcyclist died early Saturday in a crash in South Salt Lake.

Police did not immediately disclose the 39-year-old man's name. The crash happened about 1:30 a.m. on 3900 South near 500 West.

South Salt Lake police Sgt. Darren Carr said the motorcycle was traveling west on 3900 South when a car turned left in front of the bike to enter a gas station. Carr said it appeared the rider tried to lay the motorcycle on its side.

The motorcyclist died at the scene. Carr said the man was not wearing a helmet.
