Unified Police are crediting witnesses including a law enforcement colleague for their swift arrest of a suspect in the Thursday afternoon robbery of an eastern Salt Lake County financial institution.
UPD Lt. Justin Hoyal said that at about 3 p.m. Thursday, a man approached a teller with a note, claiming to be armed and demanding cash. He then fled the Mountain America Credit Union at 2174 E. 3300 South with an undisclosed amount of money.
However, an investigator from the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office was outside when he saw a white Subaru Impreza speeding away from the area. The driver matched the description from witnesses at the credit union.
UPD officers soon located the vehicle, pulled it over and arrested the suspect, a 23-year-old Murray man.
He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery charges.
