A 53-year-old man remained in critical condition on Wednesday, the day after he was hit by a car as he tried to cross a dark Ogden intersection.

Ogden police Lt. Jake Sube said the incident occurred about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at 30th St. and Jefferson Avenue. The victim was walking in the street northbound, on the east side of 30th, when he was hit by the westbound car.

Sube said there are no marked crosswalks in the area.

No citations had been issued to the 73-year-old male driver. Police continued Wednesday to investigate the circumstances of the accident.

"[We] would like to remind drivers to be cautious around intersections, especially in low light and night time situations," Sube said, adding that pedestrians also may consider using reflective materials on their clothing or carrying lights in such conditions.
