A 35-year-old motorcyclist was in critical but improving condition Thursday, the day after he collided with a car in downtown Salt Lake City.
Police Detective Cody Lougy said doctors at University Hospital had reported that the man had been stabilized after emergency surgery and was expected to eventually recover.
The man was riding his bike westbound on 1st Avenue about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when a northbound car pulled into the intersection at C Street. The motorcyclist broadsided the car.
The motorcyclist was believed to have had the right of way, police said, but no citations were immediately issued and the accident remained under investigation.
