Mystery still surrounds the murder of Evelynne Derricott — and three years after she was found killed in her Tooele home, police are once again asking for the public's help solving her case.

On Oct. 8, 2011, a friend found Derricott's body in her home at 410 W. Havasu St.

Police have said Derricott's car — a teal green 1993 Pontiac Grand Am — and cellphone were found abandoned near Impressions Drive (5800 South) and Ridge Hollow Way (5300 West) in Kearns about a week after the murder.

But clues in the case, thus far, have not led police to a suspect. In a Wednesday news release, Tooele police asked that anyone with information about the case call them at 435-882-8900 or Tooele County Dispatch at 435-882-5600. People can also submit tips by texting TOOELETIP, plus the information, to 274637.

At the time of her death, investigators found a male's DNA at the murder scene, which matched DNA found in her car. While the DNA profile did not match anyone on record, police at the time called it the "biggest break" in the case.

"We're still looking for either a match to happen to get loaded to the database ... and we have revisited [the case] frequently to generate tips," Capt. Paul Wimmer said Wednesday.

Police also sent Derricott's phone to the Utah State Crime Lab to look for fingerprints, phone contacts and recently called numbers. But that avenue did not lead police anywhere, Wimmer said.

Police still have not released the suspected cause of death, whether Derricott's body showed any obvious trauma or why police concluded her death was a homicide. Police have said there was no forced entry to the home.

Derricott wasn't vengeful or mean to anyone, her daughter Cathlynn Gardiner previously told The Tribune. She was remembered as a fun-loving, helpful, supportive parent and a grandparent to five children, her daughter said. The active woman would always visit her daughters for Christmas. She also loved her two cats, and crocheting Afghan blankets for couples who were getting married.
