West Valley City gang detectives are trying to unravel the details and motivation for an early Wednesday morning home invasion by three gun- and baseball bat-wielding men.

Public safety dispatchers confirm police were called to a residence near 3200 South and 3800 West at 3 a.m. Residents told them the three men burst into the home, but details on what they may have been looking for were unclear.

Police did get sufficient information to quickly trace the trio, though, to a nearby apartment complex within 15 minutes of the 911 call. By Wednesday afternoon, two of the three — ages 18 and 19 — had been arrested.

The third suspect remained at large. He was described as an adult Latino, last seen wearing dark clothing, a hooded sweatshirt and a bandana over his face.

Investigators reportedly were trying to determine what relationship, if any, the suspects had with the victims, and what was taken during the break-in.

No injuries were reported.
