Utah County sheriff's investigators await an official cause of death finding, but they do not believe a North Salt Lake woman's fatal plunge from Bridal Veil Falls was anything other than a tragic accident.

The body of Camille Stepan, 39, was found at the base of the 607-foot-tall scenic site in the south part of Provo Canyon on Sept. 30.

Early on in their investigation, detectives asked the public for any information that could shed light on the death. However, no witnesses who had possibly seen the fall, or talked with Stepan immediately prior to the incident, were found.

The Bridal Veil Falls trail is rugged and steep in places and often wet and slippery, sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon noted.

"There's nothing telling us that this is anything but an accident," he said. "The official cause of death will be determined by the State Medical Examiner's Office."

Results of an autopsy and forensic testing likely will not be released for another week or two, Cannon said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Utah County dispatchers at 801-794-3970.
