A man continued to fight for his life on Thursday, three days after he was struck twice as he tried to run across State Street in South Salt Lake.

South Salt Lake police said the unidentified man, believed in his 30s, was still in "very critical" condition and on life support at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.

The man was trying to dash across a dark, poorly lit section of State Street at 2929 South Monday night when he was hit first by one car, and then a second vehicle. He suffered severe head injuries.

No citations had been issued. The incident remains under investigation.
