A man struck twice by cars as he attempted to dash across State Street in South Salt Lake was in critical condition Tuesday.

South Salt Lake police dispatchers said a 911 call reporting the incident came in at 9:38 p.m. Monday. The man reportedly was trying to run across State Street at 2929 South — an area with neither a crosswalk nor traffic signal — when it was hit first by one car, and then a second vehicle.

Suffering serious head injuries, the unidentified man was rushed to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, where he was listed in critical condition.

No citations were issued. The incident remains under investigation.
