A seriously injured mountain biker has been rescued from Big Cottonwood Canyon.

The 39-year-old man was biking on his own Friday afternoon when he crashed and suffered what might be significant injuries, said Unified Police Detective Ken Hansen. The biker was reportedly in the Mill D area of the canyon.

By 5:12 p.m., the biker had been removed from the canyon in a medical helicopter, according to a tweet from the Unified Police Department.
