Authorities were working to clear a downtown Salt Lake City intersection after a TRAX train struck a car.

The car's driver, a 70-year-old man, was taken to a hospital but did not appear to have life-threatening injuries, according to Remi Barron, spokesman for the Utah Transit Authority. Three other people in the car were being treated at the scene for minor injuries, said Salt Lake City police Capt. John Cardona. Nobody on the train was injured.

The collision occurred just after 8 p.m. at 200 South and Main Street after the car, which was travelling east on 200 South, failed to stop at a stoplight, Cardona said. The train collided with the car in the intersection.
