Unified Police on Tuesday arrested a 36-year-old Murray woman suspected of being the driver in a shooting incident near a Millcreek alternative high school on Monday afternoon.

But police were still seeking a 17-year-old male who allegedly fired multiple shots from a car the woman was driving.

UPD Lt. Justin Hoyal said officers responding to a 911 call just before 2:30 p.m. Monday arrived at a 7-Eleven store, 3900 S. 500 East, to find both the alleged victims and perpetrators had fled the scene.

However, several witnesses told investigators that a fight, across the street and outside the Granite Connections High School, had preceded the gunfire.

Granite School District spokesman Ben Horsely confirmed there had been a fight and that a school police officer had initially pursued the participants on school grounds and across the street to the 7-Eleven.

Hoyal said that two adults and a juvenile had driven from the school to the store in a tan Chevrolet Tahoe when a silver Toyota Corolla drove by, southbound on 500 East. A front passenger in the Toyota opened fire, striking the Tahoe several times but not wounding anyone.

UPD detectives later Monday located the Tahoe and the three victims at a home in Murray. The bullet-riddled Tahoe was seized as evidence.

On Tuesday, the woman suspected of driving the Toyota was arrested at a Murray home and booked into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of six counts of aggravated assault. The suspect vehicle also was located and seized as evidence.

Hoyal asked that anyone with information about this incident call UPD at 385-468-9818.
