Police were hunting Tuesday for a crowbar-wielding suspect who robbed a southwest Salt Lake City restaurant.

The 911 call reporting the holdup came at 9:24 a.m. Monday from the Subway shop at 1240 S. Redwood Road (1700 West).

Salt Lake City police Sgt. Robin Heiden says witnesses told officers that the suspect — a 5-foot-8 white male, about 18 years old, with blue eyes and a mustache, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, white baseball cap and blue jeans — jumped over the counter and used the crowbar to remove the cash drawer.

He then ran from the store with an unspecified amount of cash, fleeing south along Redwood Road.

No one was injured.
