Weber County sheriff's deputies fished four vehicles out of Pineview Reservoir on Saturday, at least one of which was stolen about two weeks ago.

Deputies recently found the cars near the dam while testing new sonar equipment. The vehicles appear to have been dumped off the embankment of the pull-outs on the reservoir's south side, according to a Weber County Sheriff's Office news release.

The vehicles were about 30 to 50 feet from the shore, and submerged under 30 to 40 feet of water. Divers and a tow crew spent much of Saturday pulling them out.

The vehicles include a Dodge Raider with a license plate that expired in 1996; a Suzuki Samurai and Ford pickup truck with registrations that expired in 1999; and a Toyota 4-Runner that was reported stolen out of Ogden on Aug. 30.

Now investigators are trying to figure out how they wound up in the reservoir, and if the oldest three vehicles were reported stolen as well.

Besides the four vehicles, deputies are looking into a fifth one closer to the dam, on its north side.

"This car will have to be removed at a later date as the recovery efforts are extremely time-consuming and difficult," the release reads. The release later adds that the recovery will likely take place next weekend.

Investigators do not believe any of the vehicles were occupied when they went into the water.
