A man was injured while BASE jumping in Rock Canyon.

He was the last of his friends to jump from an estimated 300-foot cliff in Utah County about 2:30 p.m. Friday, said Provo Fire Capt. Dean York. His parachute deployed, but he slammed back into the cliff wall and came down the cliff side, rolling another 20 feet when he hit the slope below, York said.

Emergency responders arrived minutes later and took to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. His helmet broke from one of his impacts, and he was complaining of pain on his right side, York said. He had also suffered numerous abrasions and cuts from the fall.
