Data obtained by Muckrock.com shows what surplus military weapons Utah police forces posses.

The map shows which city or county police forces received weapons. Or click here for a larger view of the map.

State agencies have surplus military weapons and equipment, too, according to Defense Department data provided to Muckrock.com:

• The Utah Attorney General's Office has 15 M-16s.

• The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources 84 M-14s, though the agency is trying to return them to the Defense Department.

• The Utah Highway Patrol has 250 M-14s and one mine-resistant ambush protected vehicle.

• The Utah Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division has four M-14s and four M-16s.
