On a day when Utahns joined the nation in remembering a time of terror, loss and sacrifice, nature offered the caress of a breeze and warmth of sunshine to dry the tears.

The 13th anniversary of 9/11, when four jetliners hijacked by Islamic jihadists were deliberately crashed in the Twin Towers ion New York, the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field, brought sunny, mild skies, winds of 10-20 mph and daytime highs in the upper-60s to the Wasatch Front.

The near-perfect, late summer days were a balm for a time when past battles against barbarism were remembered, and the nation was committed to a new fight against resurging terrorism and genocide abroad.

Northern Utah's forecast for Friday called for clear horizons and temperatures in the low-70s. In southern Utah, the mercury was forecast to hit the upper-80s on Thursday and the low-90s on Friday under clear, bright skies.

Breathe free, too. The Utah Division of Air Quality forecast of "green," or for healthy conditions for the entire state into the weekend.

The Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website rated ragweed and mold at "moderate" levels on its pollen index Thursday, all other allergens were "low."
