The stolen beer flying through the air got her in trouble, but it was the Taser chaser that put a 38-year-old Salt Lake City woman on the ground.

Salt Lake City police say the suspect tried to walk out of the Maverick store at 200 W. N. Temple about 8:30 p.m. Sunday without paying for her Bud Light.

The clerk followed her outside and confronted her, only to have a brew barrage force him back. Police, summoned by a 911 call, arrived moments later. The officers, too, had to endure a hail of ale before finally subduing the brewsy bandita with a Taser shock.

Fortunately, officers faced a suspect armed only with a six-pack, rather than a case of suds. She was booked into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of second- and third-degree aggravated assault counts and a class B misdemeanor shoplifting charge.

She remained behind bars Monday in lieu of $680 bail.
