A Taylorsville man died and several others were injured after two cars crashed with a bus Wednesday night in West Valley City.

A vehicle traveling west on 4100 South collided with a northbound car on 2200 West about 7:20 p.m., said West Valley City police Lt. Matt Elson. Both cars spun into a Utah Transit Authority bus traveling south on 2200 West.

The driver and passenger of the northbound car were taken to a hospital, Elson said; the passenger, 84-year-old Davey Lee Burton of Taylorsville, died at the hospital.

Only minor injuries were reported by occupants of the westbound car, which was carrying two 18-year-olds and three children, Elson said.

No one on the bus was injured.

The intersection was closed for investigation and likely would not open until 10:30 p.m. at the earliest, Elson said.
