Would-be robber runs with scissors, escapes injury — but not jail
Scissors just wouldn't do it for a would-be armed robber at a west Salt Lake City grocery store.
Police say the male suspect entered the Jade Market at 353 W. 200 South about 9 a.m. Wednesday, brandished the scissors and demanded $200 cash from the clerk.
"Get the ---- out of here," the clerk, unimpressed, replied. The man, despite the caution of mothers from time immemorial, ran away with the scissors — and out the door.
Police, answering the 911 call from the store, located the 23-year-old suspect just minutes later and arrested him without further incident.
He was booked into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of first-degree felony aggravated robbery and class C misdemeanor providing false information to a police officer.
