The FBI and Saratoga Springs police have arrested a suspect in a bomb threat that led to the cancellation of classes on Tuesday at Westlake High School.
The law enforcement agencies served a search warrant at a home in the city Thursday evening and arrested the suspect there, according to police spokesman Owen Jackson.
No details about the suspect were released Thursday night. More information is expected to be released Friday.
The bomb threat, made on what was supposed to be the first day of classes, was accompanied by a $10 million cash ransom demand. A caller at about 2:55 a.m. Tuesday claimed that multiple bombs had been planted at the school, at 99 N. Thunder Blvd. (200 West) and threatened "an armed response" if his ransom was not paid, Jackson said.
Members of the Utah County Sheriff's bomb squad, aided by bomb-sniffing dogs, swept the school's buildings room by room. No explosives were found.
